We regret to inform you of the passing away of great Curacao
singer and performer George Willems, 1956-2007.
He died on January 24th after a long illness. His funeral on Saturday
January 27th was attended by people from all ranges of the Curacao
community, and was transmitted live on national TV. Speakers at the
funeral addressed the mourners and praised his life and his art. Before
taking our beloved George to his final resting place a number of his
fellow artists gave performances in his honor, and the choir who sang
mass, too, consisted of his colleagues. To learn more about George,
