BIOGRAPHY
Greg was born Gregory Robert Vaccariello on May 8, 1963 in Pelham
General Hospital in New York City. "My mother named all of us, and she
just loved the name Gregory". His father's only concern about my name
was that it wasn't Jeffrey. The middle name is after Greg's uncle.
After living in The Bronx for the first three years of his life, Greg
moved his family to Hauppauge, Long Island, New York, where he
graduated high school in 1981.
While attending college at Oneonta State, Greg was originally a
Biology major in the pre-vet program. "I wanted to be a vet ever since
I saw One Hundred And One Dalmatians." But after getting a B in one of
his major classes, Greg realized that he wasn't going to make it to
vet school, so he did the logical thing and became a Business
Economics major, graduating in 1985. But it was in college where Greg
first
starting to think about acting and comedy...
In the mean time, Greg took a job in the corporate world, and it just
didn't fit. "I couldn't get excited about monthly production reports
and inventory control levels". So he started taking teacher education
courses and got his certificate in Social Studies. Although he doesn't
teach full time, Greg often substitute teaches when he is not on the
road.
In 1986, Greg took an acting course on Long Island with John
Monteleone, and found his way to East Side Comedy Club where he took
improv classes with noted instructor Joan St. Onge. From there Greg
starting doing stand up, and took more acting classes with JoAnna
Beckson, Alice Spivak, Marci Phillips and Dani Super in NYC.
Greg now travels the country doing stand up comedy, and has performed
in such clubs as Governor's and The Brokerage on Long Island,
Dangerfield's and Stand Up NY in NYC, and The Comedy Stop at The
Tropicana in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, NJ. "The first person I ever
laughed at was Jackie Gleason. It's fair to say that he was my
absolute favorite". Modern idols are such legendary comics as Billy
Crystal,
Dana Carvey, Richard Pryor, and Brian Regan.
Acting has been good to Greg, too. He has appeared on three episodes
of Law and Order: SVU, one episode each of Law and Order: CI, ED, and
The King of Queens. Greg has also appeared in the films Hung Up and No
Money Down. Look for Greg in the upcoming hit movie The Producers.
An agent once described Greg as; "Intelligent with a blue collar
flair. You could play a cop, a killer, or a banker".
One of the best ways for industry people to see you is if you write
and produce your own project. So Greg starting writing a sit com
script called NOW WHAT?! and recently produced it as a short play in
NYC.
Greg's dream is to have his own sitcom, but he'll settle for a big
movie career if he has to. |
